Apple’s Tablet On The Launching Pad — T Minus 4, 3, 2…
I think I read somewhere that Apple may be announcing something on Wednesday. </sarcasm>
If you’ve been near any media source in the past few weeks, you’ve probably seen the build-up of Apple’s upcoming announcement, which is widely expected to be the launch of their new tablet device. To watch the drama unfold, check out Wired.com’s complete coverage.
Does anyone have predictions about size, feature set, price point, et al? Share your thoughts. Being a software testing shop, we’re particularly interested in what types of apps that will be built for this new category-defining device. Will there be an entirely new class of apps (and thus, more Apple-related testing)? Will it work with iPhone apps? Is it purely a web device?
UPDATE: Ok, so now that we know more about the iPad (check out Mashable’s iPad coverage… or TechCrunch’s… or AlleyInsider’s), I’m curious to hear what you think — Worth the wait? Overhyped? Revolutionary? Meh? Weigh in and tell us your take.

Guess is that Apple will support iphone apps on the tablet, just to make it more fun to use and leverage the apps store
I suspect you’re right, Praveen. Would be a shame to launch a new device that doesn’t support those 100,000 apps.
Apparently a McGraw-Hill CEO spilled a few beans early. Says that iPhone apps will be runnable on the device. I also saw a demo on Youtube. For what that’s worth
it looked really cool. I would say inline with how Apple would do things.
I’m saving up to get a tablet as another platform to conduct testing on
Brad, I saw that… was surprised that Apple’s PR machine would let this slip through. Can’t help but think it was intentional to help build more buzz… but if so, I don’t understand why they would let anyone else steal any of Jobs’ spotlight.
This Apple Tablet was rumored to be announced for several years now, so the Buzz was actually started long ago. At every stage apple was to announce a new iPhone – everyone talked about a coming Tablet.
I’m not sure whether McGraw-Hill executive’s slip was intentional or not, however This will even make the buzz larger so it’s making a good service to Apple than any good I guess.
Regarding the Tablet itself I believe that this can be a possible laptops & netbooks killer & i’d love to get my hand on it once it is released at last.
I’m sure it will support iPhone apps & such which will enable users to purchase & use apps anytime & anywhere. The possibilities of such applications to run on a Tablet platform are endless and I’m sure we’ll see many companies focus in this area as many jumped on deck due to the iPhone Buzz.

I can’t wait to add one to my collection!
Perhaps slightly over hyped, as always, but I’ll likely get one both for development purposes and because there will be companies coming to uTest for testing!!!!
The price is pleasantly surprising.
Will have to wait to watch the live rebroadcast to get a better feel for the ‘wow’ factor – hard to get that from a bunch of texting and photos.
